DESCRIPTION:Since 1985: Five Weeks of Oktoberfest in the Café Berlin Biergarten\nFive weeks of Oktoberfest in our covered Biergarten\, two blocks from Union Station on Capitol Hill. \nFestbier and Märzen on tap in the proper Maß\, alongside our German\nand Austrian wine list. Bavarian plates through the season — roast pork knuckle\, Wiener Schnitzel\, Sauerbraten\, wurst from Binkert’s German butcher in Baltimore\, warm pretzels with Obatzda. Our chefs are German and so is the\ncooking; Café Berlin has been on Massachusetts Avenue since 1985. \nSeptember 19 through October 25\, Wednesday through Sunday from 2 PM.\nNo cover. The Biergarten sits under full-size Biergarten umbrellas — good for sun or a shower — with the dining room inside when the evening turns cool. \nLarge parties and private events welcome — we seat about 75.\nReservations strongly recommended on weekends. \n

SUMMARY:Pig Roast — The Last Pig Roast of the Season
DESCRIPTION:Pig Roast — the last whole suckling pig of our Oktoberfest season\, roasted in the Biergarten. Saturday 24 October from noon. $65 per person. \nThis is the big one. The final Saturday of the season is the date that fills first every year\, and last year it was the busiest single day we have ever run. If there is one date to book ahead for\, it is this one. \n$65 gets you: roast suckling pig\, your choice of two Beilagen\, Apfelstrudel with house-made vanilla ice cream\, and a full litre of Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest bier in the proper Maß. \nThe sides are the real ones: Sauerkraut stewed with bacon\, Rotkohl\, Bratkartoffel with onion and bacon\, Spätzle\, Käsespätzle\, Kartoffelknödel in the halb und halb style\, Kartoffelsalat\, Gurkensalat. \nWe open at noon — a Saturday lunch we serve three times a year and no more. The Biergarten sits under full-size umbrellas\, good for sun or a shower\, with the dining room inside when the afternoon turns cool. \n$65 per person\, plus tax and service. Oktoberfest closes the following day. Reserve now — one pig\, one afternoon.
