Bavarian Brunch at Café Berlin — Oktoberfest Sundays

October 4 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Bavarian Brunch on Capitol Hill — Sunday 4 October, in the middle of our Oktoberfest season, $40 per person, two blocks from Union Station.

Brunch the way it is eaten in Bavaria, not the way it is eaten in Washington. Choose a starter or a dessert, choose a main, and it comes with coffee or juice and a 0.3L Bier.

To begin: a Bavarian Bretzel with a trio of mustards or Obatzter (the bier cheese spread — Camembert, butter, caraway, paprika); Sauerkraut Bälle, breaded and fried with whole-grain mustard aioli; Kartoffel Pfannkuchen (potato pancakes) with house-made apple sauce and sour cream; or Kartoffelsuppe.

Then Groestl, the Bavarian breakfast — roasted potatoes, dumplings, bacon and grilled chicken under a fried egg; or Frühstücksspätzle, our house-made egg noodles with spinach, onions and tomato under a fried egg; or the Deutsche Frühstück of German cold cuts, Frischkäse, jam, honey and a six-minute egg; or a Nürnberger Platte of Nuremberg sausages with creamed apple-sauerkraut. Finish with warm Schokoladenkuchen or Ofenschlupfer — bread pudding made from our own soft pretzels.

Mimosas, Radler, Cola Weizen and the German Breakfast (Jägermeister and orange juice) are on the brunch list.

$40 per person, plus tax and service. Sunday 4 October from 11 AM, in the covered Biergarten or the dining room. Reservations recommended — the Biergarten fills first.
