Spring in Germany means one thing: Spargel. Every year, Germans eagerly await asparagus season—a beloved tradition so cherished it’s practically a national holiday. But this isn’t the green asparagus you know. White asparagus, grown tenderly beneath the soil to keep it pale, sweet, and delicate, is the crown jewel of the German spring table. From April through June, restaurants across the country celebrate Spargelzeit with special menus, and locals happily indulge in this fleeting seasonal delicacy.

We’re bringing that tradition straight to D.C. Through mid-June, Café Berlin is proudly serving fresh white asparagus prepared the classic German way. It’s a true taste of spring—but only for a short while. Once the season ends, you’ll have to wait until next year.
